Summary:
Under general supervision this position is responsible for utilizing and maintaining laboratory equipment and instruments. Uses laboratory equipment and production systems to inspect finished product in meeting CTQs (Critical to quality).
Responsibilities:

• Safely operate lab equipment to ensure production is meeting quality standards.
• Performs clerical work related to laboratory activities such as word processing, record keeping and filing.
• Cleans calibrates and monitors equipment
• Prepares reports, charts and graphs
• Works under the direction of the Quality Manager
• Observes and conducts chemical and physical tests and analyses
• May direct the workflow of operators in relation to the winder
• Take necessary readings and record throughout the shift.
• Monitor chemical inventories
• Assist the operation team at the winder as needed to maintain the operation of the mill
• Will have regular communication with the sales team to regarding productions schedule, changes, and customer requirements are met.

Education and Experience Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent

2 years’ experience in manufacturing quality lab or paper machine experience –

Paper Machine Lab Tech 2 or Paper Machine Lab Tech 3

Preferred Education

Associates Degree

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; noise level in the mill will be loud. Will be required to wear PPE relevant to the position.
